The following two paragraphs are attributed to British leaders. They’re probably close to accurate, but then again, I’m the guy who thinks most great quotes are Abe Lincoln’s.
“Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon.” (Winston Church
“The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.” (Margaret Thatcher)
I noted previously that politics are not off-limit here. I suppose you could best label me a libertarian who wants “adults” running our country. (Adults who agree with me, of course.)
I was a CPA/Auditor/Tax Accountant for a few years after law school, so I have a little working knowledge of taxes and accounting. The following PDF requires about 20-30 minutes of your time. It discusses the U.S. tax system and proposes some solutions to our current problems. Accountants will read this easily and perhaps find it too elementary. (I’m looking your way, Vickie Nelson [sp].)
I think you’ll find it informative and thought-provoking. Or maybe I’m just so boring myself as to find this interesting.
